14th Feb – 6th Mar (26 arrivals)

Harbour News

Reasonable picking with 26 arrivals for the period.

Whitefish landings totalled 7400 boxes from 2 Scottish trawlers, 2 Anglo Spanish freezer gill-netters and 8 Anglo Spanish liners. The Scottish fleet continues to fish the shelf edge for monkfish and ling, a couple of boats have tried for haddocks at Rockall with little success. The seasonal Rockall haddock fishery which plays a major part in Scottish landings was both disappointing and lacking in juvenile fish in 2011 which does not bode well for the 2012 fishery. The Anglo fleet have fished very well with good hauls of all species; unfortunately market prices have been very disappointing resulting in some skippers tying up their boats until things improve.

The shellfish fleet has worked well in settled weather with all sectors reporting good returns for their efforts.

The non fishing sector saw the MCA tug Anglian Monarch call in twice for fuel and stores and the fishfarm tank ship Viknes tranship 5 loads of salmon for processing.
