Ullapool Harbour Trust continues to operate during the Covid-19 pandemic; we are supporting vital transport links to the Western Isles and handling routine fishing and commercial traffic. Harbour services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and we can be contacted by phone, email and VHF. We are observing strict social distancing and hygiene measures.
The ferry continues to run to the summer timetable with an additional Sunday morning voyage making twenty return sailings every seven days. Passenger numbers are limited to 330 per sailing and advance booking is mandatory for all travellers.
Whitefish landing totalled 5,400 boxes from four Scottish trawl and two Anglo-Spanish longline landings. The Scottish lads have had a great year fishing west but most boats are now undertaking their last trip before heading east for the winter. Anglo effort was restricted to the Brisan and La Paloma landing good shots of line-caught hake.
Shellfish activity continues to be very quiet. There was a visit from a single prawn trawler, a couple of landings from scallop divers a visit from a dredger for repairs together with the efforts of the local fleet.
Non-fishing traffic was yet again made up of mostly larger fish farm vessels who called in for repairs, fuel and crew changes. The Marine Scotland research vessel Scotia (pictured) called in for a 48-hour layover between trips.
Ullapool Harbour Trustees Community Fund – A Reminder
Ullapool Harbour Trust allocates 2% of gross profit to stakeholder initiatives annually. The fund is allocated on a quarterly basis with applicants submitting a written request for consideration by the Trustees. The application should contain a brief outline of the project, total cost, other funding avenues explored and timeline. Applications will be assessed by the Trustees at the end of each quarter with the funds allocated accordingly. The ethos of the award scheme is to fund local organisations and youth projects with an emphasis on community enhancement.
