Ferry Services

The main sea route to the north end of the Western Isles is via the car ferry that links Ullapool to Stornoway. For most of the year,  there are two daily sailings which carry passengers and their vehicles across the Minch. Additionally there is a year-round overnight freight service.   The timetable fluctuates seasonally, with extra sailings in the busiest periods and a slightly reduced Sunday sailing offer in the winter time.  Always check the timetable before travelling and it is advisable to book your tickets in advance.

For current timetable and fare information, visit http://www.calmac.co.uk/.

Constructed in 2014 and weighing 8680 GRT, the 116m ro-ro ferry Loch Seaforth has capacity for 700 passengers and 143 cars (or 20 commercial vehicles).  The viewing deck and external deck areas afford really excellent views of the Minch with opportunities to watch some fantastic marine wildlife en route.
