Fancy an exciting voyage round some of Scotland’s most beautiful islands culminating in a day ashore on St Kilda and a sail past the mysterious Flannan Isles. The Wylde Swan carries 28 paying passengers per trip with a daily rate of 80 Euros; places are limited to age 16 years and older. Passengers are encouraged to work their passage by taking watches and assisting with the rigging, this is purely on a voluntary basis.
Depart Ullapool in the morning for an 80 mile voyage down the Minch rounding the north end of Skye to Loch Harport for either a trip round the Talisker Distillery or an exploratory boat trip round the loch.
Depart Loch Harport for a 50 mile voyage to Mull and the idyllic village of Tobermory for a trip ashore to explore the area or a trip round the Ledaig distillery.
Depart after breakfast for the 140 mile voyage to St Kilda, rounding Barra Head and heading NW to the archipelago of St Kilda the remotest part of the British Isles. Arrival at St Kilda is scheduled for breakfast time with the ships company being transferred ashore by fast ribs to spend the full day exploring this magical Island. Set sail after breakfast to circumnavigate the stacks and islands of St Kilda before heading 50 miles to the uninhabited Flannan Isles.
The mystery disappearance of the 3 Flannan Isle lighthouse men in 1900 has lead to a number of theories from aliens to sea monsters although in all likelihood the ferocity of the Atlantic Ocean claimed their lives.
Aye though we hunted high and low,
And hunted everywhere,
Of the three men's fate we found no trace
Of any kind in any place,
But a door ajar, and an untouched meal, And an overtoppled chair
