Carved out by the glaciers of the last ice age, Ullapool is set against the stunning backdrop of the mountains of Loch Broom and beyond.  This tradional and historic fishing village offers one of the best natural deepwater harbours in the country. Steeped in over 200 years of history and initially developed as a herring port in 1788, passengers will find plenty locally and in the surrounding area to inspire and provide unique memories of this rugged and breathtaking landscape.

Recently voted one of the top ten places to visit in the United Kingdom, by the magazine, Outdoor Fitness it was described as an "outdoor paradise" with "Scandinavian twinkle in the Winter and Canadian style adrenalin in the Summer."

The harbour has recently invested in infrastructure to support cruise ship visits and now offers the following purpose built amenities some of which were made possible with generous financial assistance from Highland LEADER 2007-2013 funding.

  • 40m landing pontoon with gangway to our reception marquee (Highland LEADER funded)
  • Carpeted reception marquee with seating, brochures and local meet and greet personnel (Highland LEADER funded)
  • Pipers in traditional highland dress will provide a warm welcome to Ullapool
  • Private toilet facilites (Highland LEADER funded)
  • Excursion coaches parked alongside the marquee for passengers ease

Ullapool is now a destination of choice for Cruise Ships, ensuring all needs are met with investment and dedication to high quality customer service.  Excursions are readily available, varied and primarily memorable for all passengers contributing to the pleasure of their cruise experience.
