UllapoolHarbour provides a vital link to the Western Isles with the provision of a ro-ro lifeline ferry service crossing the Minch to Stornoway. The winter timetable provides 2 crossings a day Mon-Sat for the Isle of Lewis, carrying passengers, cars and light commercial vehicles, in addition 2 further crossings are added to the service on Wednesdays and Fridays during the summer months. A dedicated freight service runs nightly on the Muirneag carrying mainly heavy goods traffic with provisions for the island communities, both ferry services are run by Caledonian MacBrayne.
Other regular commercial traffic includes the contracted tug Anglian Prince, on permanent duty for the Marine Coastguard Agency with responsibility for patrolling the North Minch and if necessary escorting cargo vessels through the area. The Marine Scotland vessels Scotia, Alba Na Mara along with the fleet of fishery patrol vessels are regular visitors to the harbour for crew and equipment changes.
UllapoolHarbour is well placed to service the needs of the oil industry now and in years to come.We have experience of handling supply vessels which are engaged in the servicing of oil exploration rigs at work on the Atlantic Frontier. The harbour has deep water berths and ample back-up quay space for the turn around of supply vessels.Maximum sized lorries can be accommodated on the pier from which there are excellent road links to the major cities.
