Harbour News

Whitefish totalled 2250 boxes from 2 vessels; the Scottish twin rigger Adventurer made 2 landings of mixed fish and the Spanish liner Ayr Queen 3 landings of hake and ling all from the Shelf Edge. Once again figures are well down due mainly to the lack of effort / vessels left fishing west.
The shellfish sector was a bit busier with the offshore crabbers Our Hazel and Heather K plus the Gairloch prawner Ocean Trust all landing good shots weekly, the Oban registered scallop dredgers Star of Jura and Rois Mhairi put ashore 2 good landings of clams from local waters, and the local inshore fleet worked away when conditions were favourable. Several of the Stornoway prawn fleet came across for ice as the SY ice plant is currently broken and possibly beyond repair.

The non fishing sector saw the bulk carrier Borhoui in for 2 loads of aggregate from the local quarry, the material is being shipped to Scrabster and trucked to Dounreay as part of the ongoing decommissioning project.

Harbour Notice:
The restrictions on berthing at the pontoon have been lifted for the winter, working commercial creel vessels can now berth alongside overnight provided that the last 10metre section is kept clear for emergency access and any unforeseen arrivals.
