25 Arrivals for the Period

Whitefish totalled 6100 boxes from one Anglo-Spanish liner and five Scottish trawl landings. The Anglo fleet continues to work north with the occasional vessel working west of the Butt where the fishing remains poor. Despite the weather, the Scottish trawlers Adventurer and Atlantic Challenge are still going west to Rockall fishing for monks, ling, saithe, cod and haddock. The Banff-registered twin trawler Venture III made two landings of quality ground-fish from the shelf edge working in appalling weather conditions. Completed in 2017 Venture III has the distinction of being the biggest fishing vessel completed to date by Macduff Shipyards Ltd and is one of the most advanced whitefish trawlers to join the UK fleet.

Shellfish was restricted to a couple of landings by the offshore crabber Our Hazel, four scallop landings by Oban-based dredgers together with the efforts of the local fleet.

Non-fishing was fairly steady with nine diverse arrivals. The Tanera-based landing craft Cromarty Queen called in for supplies; bulk carrier Ceg Universe delivered 1,200 tonnes of road salt for Highland Council; emergency towing vessel Ievoli Black made two visits for fuel and a crew change; fishery protection vessel Minna came in for a layover; Royal Navy minehunters Grimsby, Ramsey and Hurworth called in for fuel and the Marine Harvest tank ship Inter Caledonia came in for fuel, stores and a crew change. Inter Caledonia has confirmed Ullapool as her home port and will crew change every four weeks buying her fuel and supplies locally. Likewise the emergency towing vessel Ievoli Black has elected to use the port more regularly for fuel and crew changes.
